Apolobamba

7 days/6 nights

Apolobamba trek offers a nice landscape, interesting fauna and flora. The altitude 800 and 6200m is known as the origin of the “Kallawaya” culture.

The trail today still used by the Chasquis and  Kallawaya people and some local inhabitants preserving their ancestral traditions.

DAY 1: LA PAZ – PELECHUCO

Pick up at 5:30 at your hotel. We leave La Paz to Pelechuco (11 hrs). We cross by small towns in altiplano like Carabuco and Escoma. On the road we have lunch. Arrive at night to Pelechuco (2700m) spend  the night in a hostal.

DAY 2:  PELECHUCO – HILLO HILLO

After breakfast we start the trek cross by pass Keansani and  to go up to 4900 m., we can see different landscape, snow mountains and Palca river;  after lunch to go down 2 hrs. to Hillo Hillo. Camp out and dinner.

(We walk today for 6 to 7 hrs.)

DAY 3: HILLO HILLO – SUNCHULLI

Today start our trek to Piedra Grande and small communities of stone`s houses, after the lunch to go  down for 3 hrs. until de foothill Sunchulli mountain,  here we can see the Machu Sunchulli, Huayna Sunchulli and Cuchillo mountain.

Camp out San Juan at 4800 m.

Día 04: SUNCHULLI – INKA CANCHA

Today we go up to the highest point to Paso Sunchulli 5100 m., and cross the Sunchulli town Quellwaqota Lagoon, Viscachani and descending by Mil Curvas to our camping Inka Cancha.

DAY 5: INKA CANCHA – JATUN PAMPA – CURVA

We begin the day  to go down to Apacheta Muro Qarqa (4558 m.) and Jatun Pampa near to Akamani mountain and  visiting the millenarian village of Curva (3780 m) and the surrounding area. Camp out in Lagunillas.

DAY 6: CURVA – CHARAZANI – LA PAZ

From Lagunillas we follow the rivers Jatumpampa and Llujlla towards the village of Curva,  we  walk another  4- 5 hours to the village of Charazani.  Basic accommodation in Charazani.

DAY 7: CHARAZANI – LA PAZ

After breakfast we take the bus to La Paz (8 hrs).
